GENUINE REVIEWS!

It’s my intention to share with you my honest perspective as an interior designer, and cabin photographer. I have personally stayed in all of these accommodations, photographed them and enjoyed them!

01. Loma Sur Le Lac, luxury cabin

Location: 250 chemin du lac Lili , Chertsey, J0K 3K0, Canada
Distance from Montreal: 1hr 0 mins
Distance from Quebec: 3hr 0min
Pet Friendly: No
Great for: 8 people, couples, family, or small group of friends
When you’re there: Spend as much time on the lake as possible, it’s a beautiful view from the large patio or from the hot tub on the ground floor. If the weather isn’t in your favour I highly spending time around the fire in the living room. It’s one of the best fireplaces we’ve come across.

This cabin is one of the largest we’ve stayed at, however it feels intimate in the way that it was designed. While it has a modern design, the materials are very organic and don’t feel overly pretentious. The neutral color schedule sets a relaxing tone for the space, the design was very intentional and to be enjoyed. The communal areas are all upstairs which makes for a great entertaining space. We loved the open plan of the kitchen - dining - living area. A unique bit about Loma Sur Le Lac was that it offered a great sun room which can be enjoyed in any weather. It’s a great spot in the house for all of those summer BBQ’s.

If you’re coming in late, one thing to note is that the drive in to this area is especially beautiful during sunset, there’s something about the way the sun bounces off the trees and onto the road, it makes for a really special entrance onto the cabin. I will most definitely be making a personal trip back out to this cabin in the summer, I can tell that it will be an amazing spot for relaxing in the sun and swimming in the lake with friends!

02. La cAbin Ride & Sleep

Location: Lac-Beauport, Québec, Canada
Distance from Montreal: 3hr 30min
Distance from Quebec: 30min
Pet Friendly: Yes
Great for: 2-6 people, couples or a small family
When you’re there: The land is 12 acres of forest, which means that you have no neighbours! Enjoy the breathtaking 360 degree views, and a truly remote experience! The owner of this little A-Frame built the cabin from the ground up himself, he purchased the land with a bunch of buddies to create a trail system for mountain biking, the surrounding land is lush with all kinds of untouched forrest.

As a cabin photographer I’ve explored a lot of cabins in my time. Some newly designed, with every design detail refined just so. Others often more rough around the edges, a place to kick off your muddy shoes after a long day of exploring the woods. I’m not biased towards one or the other, however what all cabins must bring to the table for me is that immediate feeling of nostalgia, sense of wonder, spark of creativity and child like playfulness. Each cabin must allow for the guest to sink into the deepest parts of those feelings. I feel that this cabin does that best out of all of the cabins on this list, the owner intended for that to be the case and I believe he achieved that perfectly. I highly recommend checking out this cabin, if you resonate with what I mentioned above :)

03. HinterCabin / hinter company

Location: Mont Tremblant, Quebec
Distance from Montreal: 1hr 15min
Distance from Quebec: 4hr 03min
Pet Friendly: Yes
Great for: 2-4 people, couples or a small family
When you’re there: Enjoy your cup of coffee in the early morning light that shines into the living room.

This Hygge inspired, 944 sf, Cabin is one of many cabins part of the Chic Shack Micro Loft Development. As you drive into the community, you’ll notice that Hinter Cabin is one of about 30 cabins that were designed to feel tucked away into approximately 1200 acres of Laurentian Forest. At first glance you’ll notice that the exterior of the cabins are designed similar to each other, due to the nature of the “Micro Loft Series” style. The Chick Shack’s design for the exterior shell of the buildings offers large floor to ceiling windows and sliding glass doors that you can open and close to your liking; these doors spill out onto the patio in one continuous motion playing into that indoor/outdoor way of living that we love! Theres a few parking spaces in front of each cabin allowing you a quick walk from your car to the front door.

Hinter Cabin’s interior design really stands out from the others that I’ve seen! As we move into the interior of the space which is more tailored to the owners, this two bedroom, one bath cabin boasts about it’s smart technology integration, fast wifi, keypad entry, sonos speakers which simplify the way you interact with the space. The clean, linear design of the space makes it feel light and airy, and when you catch an early morning sunrise; you wont be disappointed. Because of the integrated technology around the cabin, it allows you time to enjoy the private lake access via their custom made canoe. Should you choose to cozy up by their Stuv Fireplace instead it offers a unique eco-friendly approach to the traditional cabin fireplace. Being an interior designer myself, the thing I liked about this cabin the most is in fact the modern design of it, it really is any minimalists dream cabin as there isn’t anything kitschy about it’s offerings; Hinter Cabin simply offers the essentials (eco-friendly essentials!) I think we need more places like this in order to slow down for the weekend!

With that said, If you're needing a place to go to spark something in yourself, or to ease the stress of your busy life then I highly recommend spending a few nights here. It’s important to make space in your life to take care of yourself, in ways that may mean making some tea and enjoying hintercabin to it's fullest. If you're thinking of booking hintercabin, I'll leave you with this - do it, savour every moment of time you have there, I promise you that your soul will thank you.

04. NOGE HEBERGEMENT

Location: Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval, Quebec
Distance from Montreal: 3hr 30min
Distance from Quebec: 30min
Pet Friendly: Yes
Great for: 1-6 people, solo travellers or a group of close friends
When you’re there: Explore the property! Honestly this location is a dream, it offers a private lake that is nestled at the base of a mountain. With lots of room to roam (250 acres of land to be exact) theres something about Noge that keeps me coming back for more, and in any season. It’s the perfect place for the adventure squad!

The cabin itself is a modern, Scandinavian style design with a really fun loft hideaway! Noge elevates the design of a modern cabin by offering private key pad entry, underfloor heating to keep those toes cozy, local snacks upon arrival, and all of your favorite outdoor toys; I especially love the paddle board! It’s efficient floor plan tucks in three bedrooms, and one large bathroom. Noge may have a small overall square footage compared to some of the cabins on this list but I wouldn’t have it any other way, because of that I feel it really lends itself to the indoor / outdoor lifestyle.

Noge is the kind of cabin that you’ll want more time at, I highly suggest blocking out 4 or 5 days to spend here. One of my favorite things to do while spending time there is getting up before the sun, making a cup of nespresso coffee and going out to the dock to watch sunrise. If it rained or was damp the night before, you can look back toward the cabin and the tall grass will sparkle in the morning light. It’s one of the many little moments of magic that Noge shares with you every morning. This place is special to me, the owners are really delightful people, and I’m so lucky to have the opportunity to share this cabin with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

05. THE FEATHER HOUSE

Location: Chertsey, Quebec, Canada
Distance from Montreal: 1hr 30min
Distance from Quebec: 3hr 30min
Pet Friendly: Yes
Great for: 2-8 people, families who are looking for an easy getaway!
When you’re there: When you’ve spent enough time by the fire and kayaking around, find the hidden Nintendo 64 and play your heart of (they’ve got Mario Kart)

This renovated home has quirky details throughout, with the old brick archway framing the stove area it made the kitchen space feel intimate and acted as the perfect morning coffee spot. I loved this cabin because it was a great size for a couple or a family. It had three bedrooms (one downstairs, two up) and it offered a great backyard to entertain. If you’re looking for a cabin that is close to town, nothing too remote and close to the city than this is the spot for you!
